Monorepo for everything mesh networking — tools, research, field reports, and the ongoing project to bridge Meshtastic (LoRa radio, 1+ mile range) with BitChat (BLE phone mesh, ~100m range).
Field work so far:
- Handed out 12 SenseCAP radios at Vibecamp 4. 30-40 people in the tea room, chaotic and fun.
- Took radios to Hard Summer where cell service barely existed. Real-world mesh communication when infrastructure failed.
- Met the BitChat community IRL at an In-N-Out meetup organized through the app's regional rooms.
The bridge vision: Gateway nodes that relay between BitChat's BLE mesh and Meshtastic's LoRa mesh. Everyone has a phone (BLE access), dedicated hardware extends range. Hybrid mesh combining accessibility with distance.
Includes a radio data extraction tool (Python, uv, Meshtastic API) for dumping node info and live packet capture.
Grew out of Black Lager, my master's project that added public key encryption to Meshtastic.
