Anytime an untrusted person or service asks for my email, I generate a Hide My Email address that forwards to my personal inbox. It's one of my favorite privacy features.
The contact email on this site is one of them. I'm sure you reading this right now are a wonderful and trustworthy person, but this protects me from malicious actors (human or otherwise).
While some may call this paranoid, I call it prudent. The times this practice has helped me more than make up for the few seconds it takes to generate each email. It's also fun to click through the 3 randomly generated domain options.
I've never regretted using a Hide My Email address. It made de-Googling my email much easier. Previously, the addresses forwarded to my Gmail and with one click I made them all forward to my iCloud. Since I sign up for online services with the Hide My Email address, I didn't have to go sign in to each service and update.
The one time I didn't use a Hide My Email address, it turned into months of spam emails from 24 Hour Fitness and a bugged unsubscribe page I had to fix myself.
